A severe cold wave continues to grip Gilgit-Baltistan under the prevailing weather conditions, while temperatures across all upper areas of the province have dropped below the freezing point.According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of snowfall in upper and mountainous regions during the next few days, which is likely to further intensify the cold.
In view of the harsh weather conditions, the district administration has initiated emergency measures to ensure public safety and convenience. Machinery has been kept on standby for snow clearance on sensitive and snow-affected roads, while district control rooms have been activated to ensure a prompt response in case of any emergency.
The administration has advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly to upper and mountainous areas, and to stay informed about the weather situation before setting out. Travelers and local residents have been urged to use warm clothing and ensure adequate arrangements for fuel and food. In case of snowfall, the availability of medical facilities and rescue teams has also been ensured.
The district administration has clarified that the situation is being closely monitored and all available resources will be utilized to protect life and property. The public is requested to immediately contact the nearest district control room or relevant department in case of any difficulty or emergency and to extend full cooperation to the administration.
