Sindh launches scheme to provide 10,000 free electric motorcycles to women workers Breaking

August 22, 2025

The Sindh Workers Welfare Board has launched a scheme to distribute 10,000 free electric motorcycles to women industrial workers, provincial Labor Minister Shahid Thaheem announced Friday. Thaheem said registration for the motorcycles has begun on the board’s official website, www.wwbsindh.gov.pk. Eligible applicants include women between the ages of 20 and 45 employed in the industrial sector.

A 20 percent quota has been reserved for minorities. He said applications will be processed through a digital balloting system, eliminating the possibility of human interference. Successful applicants will be given 60 days to obtain a driving license. Thaheem described the program as a step toward empowering women, noting that women make up half of Pakistan’s population.

“The country cannot progress without their development,” he said, adding that the scheme is designed to provide women with safe and dignified transport. The labor minister said the inclusion of minorities in the project is a recognition of their contributions and sacrifices.
