The All-Party Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter today held a conference at its office in Islamabad on the occasion of “Pakistan Day”. The conference was chaired by APHC-AJK senior leader Muhammad Farooq Rahmani while the chief guest was former Senator Farhatullah Babar. The speakers on the occasion said the resolution presented at Minto Park in Lahore on March 23, 1940, set a new path for Muslims.
They said, "We should remember all the great sacrifices made for the achievement of an independent homeland." They said that the dream of Kashmiris to join Pakistan will definitely be fulfilled one day. The speakers paid tributes to the inspiring leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the visionary ideas of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. They said that Quaid-e-Azam worked tirelessly to turn the dream of Allama Iqbal into a reality.
The speakers said a strong and stable Pakistan is essential for the success of the Kashmir freedom movement. They further said Pakistan’s strong economy, stable political system and strong defence capability are essential to help the Kashmiri people achieve their right to self-determination. They said despite its difficulties, Pakistan is providing full moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people.
Condemning India’s attempts to change the population ratio in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, they urged the United Nations and human rights organizations to stop India from taking illegal and unconstitutional steps. The conference was attended by Lt General (Ret) Abdul Qayoom, Brigadier Arshad Mahmood, Abdullah Gul, Ghulam Raza Naqvi, Chaudhry Yasin, Rizwan Saifi, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, Syed Yousuf Naseem, Syed Gulshan, Mir Tahir Masood, Altaf Ahmed Butt, Sanaullah Dar, Syed Ijaz Rahmani.
