Sindh Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities has dismissed a female teacher from service after a video surfaced showing her slapping and pulling the ear of a mentally-ill student in Karachi.The incident took place in a school located in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi on September 26, 2025. A case was filed on behalf of a lawyer from the Sindh Empowerment of Persons with Disability under Section 2018 on October 2, 2025.

The management of the school, in a statement to the police, said that the management dismissed female teacher Safia Naz for torturing a mentally ill student. The management further said that Safia Naz had been performing her duties in the School for the last eight years.In her statement, Safia Naz said that the students bit on her hand after which she became annoyed and slapped on child‘s face. The management of the school said that due to backache and illness, the female teacher was suffering from mental pressure. Police said that the female teacher will be arrested soon.
