The Embassy of Japan Hosted a Film Screening of Time-Loop Comedy “Mondays: See You ‘This’ Week!”Breaking

The Embassy of Japan in Pakistan, in collaboration with The Japan Foundation, hosted a successful screening of the 2022 Japanese (English sub-titled) comedy/science fiction film Mondays: See You ‘This’ Week! at the Embassy premises. Directed by Ryō Takebayashi and written by Saeri Natsuo and Ryō Takebayashi, the film follows employees at a small advertising agency trapped in a repeating work week, delivering clever wit and a relatable take on breaking free from life's "daily loop."

The Embassy of Japan with the support of the Japan Foundation has been holding Japanese film shows in Pakistan since many decades to provide an opportunity for the people of Pakistan to learn various aspects of Japanese tradition, culture, lifestyle and society. Culture enthusiasts and movie-lovers thoroughly enjoyed this modern showcase of Japanese cinema's humor and creativity. Mr. Hammad who is studying Japanese language greatly appreciated the movie saying “It was great seeing through this movie that how the Japan’s office culture works and their strength of team work depicted in the story.

Ms. Amna Asif, a Japanese language teacher, commented that the time-loop concept in the movie was a great lesson to learn that you live your life as you have no regrets. Mr. Takane Kazumasa, Counsellor and Head of Culture and Public Affairs at the Embassy, addressed the guests, emphasizing film's role in fostering deeper people-to-people connections. "Film acts as a vibrant cultural bridge, further strengthening the friendly bonds between Japan and Pakistan," he stated.
