A man was killed in Shahdara after being hit by a vehicle driven by an underage driver. The Inspector General of Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, took notice of the incident and expressed serious concern over traffic violations involving underage drivers.Punjab IG has ordered a province-wide crackdown against underage drivers, including strict enforcement in Lahore. He directed that underage and unlicensed drivers must not be allowed on the roads under any circumstances.
Usman Anwar instructed the Safe City authorities to use surveillance cameras to identify underage drivers and monitor their movements. He also emphasized that parents of underage drivers, whose negligence leads to accidents or fatalities, should face legal action. The directives aim to curb the increasing number of road accidents caused by underage drivers and ensure strict accountability to prevent further loss of life.
