A potentially serious disaster was prevented in Narowal after a live mortar shell was safely defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad following its discovery in Leesar Kalan village.Local residents spotted the suspected explosive device and immediately informed the police. Policemen reached the scene without delay, secured the area and established a safety cordon before requesting assistance from the Bomb Disposal Squad. The specialist team responded promptly and carried out a controlled operation.

After careful efforts, the live mortar shell was successfully rendered safe and taken into official custody for further examination.Security officials said the recovered mortar shell was of Indian manufacture and weighed approximately one kilogram. They added that, if it had exploded, it could have caused extensive damage and posed a serious threat to nearby residents. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the recovery of the explosive device.
