The School Education Department is likely to extend winter holidays by another week keeping in view the severity of the cold weather, it was learnt on Wednesday. The parents have also demanded to extend the vacation by one week due to the harsh weather coupled with dense fog in the morning, saying the month of January is likely to get even colder. The parents said that most of the private schools have already given more than a week of vacation and will open from January 8. The parents also demanded that the government school holidays should also be extended till January 7. The decision to extend the holidays or not will be taken after consultation with the government, said the Education Department.
