After receiving the report, Rescue and fire-brigade teams rushed to the spot and launched an operation to bring the fire under control, which they did after one and a half hour’s effort. No loss of life was reported from the site of the incident so far. Trader Farooq informed the media men that lot of cash was saved in the offices, which were reduced to ashes.

“About 60 million rupees were lying in drawers when the fire broke out,” he added. Farooq further said their losses could be greater as there were trying to collect information. The first was started due to a short-circuit, he added. The traders demanded that fire-brigade vehicles should be deployed at the 100-acre market.
