Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry on Wednesday announced to develop the island of Ziarat Pir Hassan Shah, near Karachi, into an eco-tourism hub. “A comprehensive eco-friendly, sports and lifestyle tourism project will be introduced for the island off the Karachi Coast,” minister said.The minister said that billions of rupees investment is expected to attract over the Ziarat Pir Hassan Shah Island project. “Over Rs one billion will be spent on the island’s development”, Junaid Anwar said.
“The island will be connected to Karachi’s District East by road.”An easy access, would create job opportunities and promote the local economy, minister said.He assured that the coastal environment would be protected in the development plan.The coastal belt of the country will be transformed into economic engine. “Ziarat Pir Hassan Shah Island will prove to be a new example of blue economy,” maritime affairs minister added.
