The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to commence its National U-17 Cricket Cup from April 16, raising concerns among parents as the tournament coincides with the ongoing Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and A-Level examinations across the country. According to details, parents of selected players have urged PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and General Manager Domestic Cricket Junaid Zia to reconsider the tournament schedule.
They highlighted that the overlap with crucial academic exams could significantly affect young cricketers, many of whom are preparing for their matriculation and A-Level assessments. Parents fear that the scheduling conflict may deprive several talented players of the opportunity to showcase their skills at a key stage in their development.
In response, PCB officials stated that the domestic cricket calendar is finalized nearly a year in advance. They added that the season follows a structured pathway starting from U-13 tournaments and progressing through U-17, U-19, one-day, and first-class competitions.
