Pakistan adds 217 new COVID-19 cases, 2 more deathsBreaking

ISLAMABAD, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan reported 217 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said on Tuesday.

The overall tally of infected people climbed to 1,566,869 across the country after adding the fresh cases, according to data released by the ministry.

A total of 30,557 people died of COVID-19 in Pakistan, with two more deaths over the last 24 hours, according to the ministry's statistics.

On Monday, 11,285 tests were conducted throughout Pakistan, and the positivity rate stood at 1.92 percent.

There are 116 patients who are in critical condition.
