Attempt to smuggle donkey skins worth Rs80m foiled in Karachi

An attempt to smuggle 14,000 kilos of donkey skins abroad from Karachi has been foiled.According to report, Customs officials thwarted the bid to smuggle skins worth Rs80 million. The staff deployed on the Risk Management Profiling System of the of Collectorate Customs Enforcement Karachi seized a container cleared from the Green Channel of the Collectorate of Customs Export at the South Asia Pakistan Port Terminal. The export documents of which were showed 285 packages of leather products. 

The export consignment was being sent to abroad from Karachi on a ship and permission was also granted to move the container to the sea. The container was intercepted and examined in detail by the Anti-Smuggling Staff of the Enforcement Collectorate Karachi.As a result, 14,000 kilos of prohibited donkey skins were recovered under the guise of leather products shown in the container. Its export is banned under the export policy of the Government of Pakistan.
