IHC bars use of state resources for political rallies in PTI protest case
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday issued written orders regarding the hearing of the case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) September 27 protest. Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar, Justice Azam Khan, and Justice Muhammad Asif issued the order. According to the order, arguments from the Advocates General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan have concluded. The court explicitly directed that no government machinery or resources shall be used in any political congregation, rally, or procession.
The court has sought affidavits from the Chief Secretary and Inspector General (IG) of KP for the next hearing. The next hearing will be held on Monday, September 14, at 10:00 AM. Advocate General Islamabad and Prosecutor General Manzoor Judja will present their arguments at the next hearing. The court also clarified that the personal appearance of the Chief Secretaries and IGs of the provinces is not required for the upcoming hearing.
