The weather department on Saturday issued an alert for Lahore and other parts of Punjab, saying the provincial capital and other areas of the province would receive heavy rains from September 14 (Monday) till September 17 (Thursday) under the impact of the ninth and last monsoon spell. It said that urban flooding was feared in Lahore due to rains. The department urged concerned departments to take precautionary measures.

It said that improvement in Lahore’s weather was expected following rains. The maximum temperature in the city of gardens on Saturday was expected to touch the 36 degrees Celsius mark, while the level of humidity in the air was recorded at 69 per cent. Breeze was blowing in the city at the speed of eight kilometers per hour. Meanwhile, good news for the people of Karachi as monsoon low over the Bay of Bengal is beginning to develop into a depression, which would produce rains in the city and other parts of Sindh from September 14 to September 16.

The maximum temperature in the city of lights was expected to go up to 36 degrees Celsius on Saturday, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 26 degrees Celsius. Winds were blowing in the city from the south-west at the speed of 12 kilometers per hour, while the level of moisture stood at 74 per cent. On Friday, the weather department forecast rains for the upper parts of the country from today (Saturday) till September 17. It said that westerly winds would enter the country on Saturday, which were likely to strengthen on Monday.
