Pakistan has received a $6 million grant for housing projects in Balochistan, according to a report released by the Economic Affairs Division in July 2025.

Speaking to WealthPK, Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Shehzad said that the support is focused on the reconstruction of houses in the province, which is often impacted by floods and other natural challenges.

This contribution underscores China’s commitment to Pakistan’s development and its role in strengthening infrastructure and housing capacity in one of the country’s most vulnerable areas.

“The aid will directly impact displaced families, providing them with durable housing solutions in the wake of devastating environmental events. The assistance aligns with Pakistan’s broader reconstruction and recovery strategies, where international partnerships like the one with China play a pivotal role,” he added.

Prominent economist Dr. Nadeem-ul-Haq told WealthPK that these projects are expected to spur local economic activity, create jobs, and enhance community resilience, paving the way for future infrastructural developments.

It is noteworthy that this is part of China’s broader development assistance to Pakistan, which also includes funding for infrastructure, energy, and scientific research projects. The strong bilateral ties between the two nations continue to thrive, with China remaining a major partner in Pakistan’s economic progress.

The Economic Affairs Division’s report reveals that Pakistan secured external financing worth $694.53 million in July 2025 from multiple financing sources, up 56.52% from the same month last year.

The disbursements represent progress against the country’s $19.92 billion budget estimates for foreign economic assistance in the fiscal year 2025-26, with the July figure accounting for approximately 3.5% of the annual target. The total amount comprised $675.67 million in loans and the remaining $18.86 million in grants from various sources.
