Five persons, including an Indian police officer, died in separate accidents in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. According to Kashmir Media Service, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police, Karamjeet Singh, died in an accident at Gangyal on the outskirts of Jammu city. On the other hand, a boy lost his life and his father, Altaf Ahmad Wagay, was injured after a speeding Tata Mobile load carrier hit them near the Higher Secondary School in Arihal village of Pulwama district.
Meanwhile, a youth identified as Ubaid Shabir died while his father, Shabir Ahmad, was rescued after the two were swept away in a water body in the Surrinder area of Bandipora district. In another incident, 42-year-old Mohammad Ashraf Mir from Srinagar is feared dead after drowning in the Lidder River while attempting to save his son, Fahad, near the Langanbal area of Pahalgam in Islamabad district.
The family was taking photographs on the banks of the Lidder River near Kolahoi Green Hotel in Langanbal when Fahad accidentally slipped into the fast-flowing water. In a bid to rescue him, Mohammad Ashraf Mir jumped into the river but lost his footing and was swept away by the strong current. Locals present at the spot managed to rescue the boy safely. However, Ashraf was washed away and is feared dead. In yet another incident, a three-year-old boy, identified as Abu Bakar, died after drowning in a canal in the Tangmarg area of Baramulla.
