Retired police personnel held a protest in Jammu, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir against the discriminatory treatment of local pensioners by the Modi-led Indian regime. According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest organized by the Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum was held at Hari Singh Park in the city. It was led by the organization head Ajit Singh. The protesting pensioners raised several demands regarding pay anomalies and unequal treatment of retired police personnel.
The pensioners highlighted discrimination in the implementation of Government Order Number 229-F of 2014 concerning pay anomalies. They said the order is being applied prospectively, from the date it was issued, whereas its benefits should have been extended retrospectively from 1996 when the 5th Pay Commission recommendations were implemented across the State-excluding the Police Department. The Forum noted that many affected pensioners have passed away and urged the authorities to provide surviving members with their due share.
