Disclosures filed under the US Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) reveal that the Indian Embassy in Washington contacted three senior officials in the Trump administration on May 10, 2025, the day a ceasefire emerged in the India-Pakistan conflict.
Publicly available filings by Washington-based lobbying firm SHW Partners LLC disclosed that the Embassy reached out to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, and Ricky Gill of the National Security Council to discuss “media coverage” of the conflict.
SHW Partners, led by former Trump adviser Jason Miller, was engaged by the Indian Embassy in late April 2025 to assist with India’s outreach on trade talks and broader policy engagements during the period spanning the April 22 terror attack and the subsequent launch of Operation Sindoor.
The May 10 outreach was part of a broader set of contacts with senior White House and US government officials, including the National Security Council and State Department, aimed at shaping media narratives and ensuring coverage aligned with India’s messaging as the ceasefire took effect.
The ceasefire was publicly announced on May 10 by US President Donald Trump and widely reported as brokered with US involvement. “Much obviously happened on May 10, 2025, leading to the first announcement of the halt of Operation Sindoor by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at 17.37 hours,” Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh posted on X.
