A joint China-Pakistan children's painting exhibition, showcasing entries from the art competition, kicked off at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts, China Economic Net (CEN) reported on Wednesday. The event commemorates the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Titled “Join hands to commemorate and paint peace together”, the exhibition showcased 300 works including paintings, calligraphy, paper-cuttings, and AI-generated art. Organized by the China-Pakistan Educational and Cultural Institute, the five-day event will later tour Punjab University to reach a wider audience.

Mr. Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, emphasized the exhibition’s significance in honoring historical sacrifices. “This event pays tribute to those who laid down their lives for peace, freedom and dignity,” he stated. “Through this children’s painting competition, we engage the younger generation in themes of peace, friendship and unity.”

Mr. Shi Yuanqiang, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan, highlighted the shared historical legacy between the two nations. “China and Pakistan stood together in the fight against fascism and made significant contributions to world peace,” he remarked. “In today’s world, it is imperative for our two countries to continue standing united and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.”

The exhibition features powerful symbolic elements, including doves for peace, olive branches and vivid depictions of Chinese and Pakistani children holding hands. The event was attended by 200 guests including Ms. Farah Naz Akbar, Pakistan’s Parliamentary Secretary for Federal Education and Professional Traning, Dr. Shazia Sobia, member of National Assembly of Pakistan, teachers and children from both countries.
