Pakistani officials head to China for hydropower trainingتازترین

Officials of WAPDA and Descon Engineering Ltd. embarked on a transformative journey to China for hydropower operations training at the prestigious Shandong College of Water Conservancy. The initiative was organised by Chinese companies, UNI Int’l and ITMC, Yasser Shakoor, Director Operations and Business Development at UNI Int’l said.

‘The update pertains to the Kurram Tangi Dam project, which has now reached completion. As part of the post-completion phase, engineers associated with the project have been nominated for hydropower training in China, aimed at enhancing operational capacities’, Yasser Shakoor told Gwadarpro.

The initiative marks a significant step towards capacity building and international cooperation in hydropower sector. The training aims to enhance technical expertise and foster deeper collaboration between Chinese and Pakistani stakeholders in hydropower development, according to the UNI Int’l’s Director.

The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) is a government agency responsible for developing water and hydropower resources. Descon is a private construction firm. Kurram Tangi Dam is located in North Waziristan district of KP province. The training will continue till August 3.
