The Department of Education at the University of Gwadar (UoG) has approved the introduction of Chinese Language as an Arts and Humanities course in its Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programmes, marking another step towards equipping future teachers with skills aligned with emerging regional and international opportunities.

The decision was made during the 6th Board of Studies (BoS) meeting, held at the PCT&VI under the chairpersonship of Dr. Rabia Aslam, the UoG said in a statement issued here, according to Gwadar Pro.

The inclusion of Chinese Language reflects the University’s commitment to broadening students’ academic horizons and enhancing their linguistic and intercultural competencies.

As Pakistan and China continue to deepen cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), proficiency in the Chinese language is increasingly viewed as a valuable skill for graduates seeking opportunities in education, business, cultural exchange, and regional development.

Alongside Chinese Language, the Board also approved the introduction of Artificial Intelligence as an interdisciplinary course in the B.Ed. programmes, aiming to prepare future educators with knowledge and skills relevant to the evolving educational landscape.

During the meeting, members reviewed a range of academic and curricular matters designed to strengthen the quality and relevance of teacher education. T

he Board approved professional certification requirements for B.Ed. students, policies regarding student rejoining after semester freeze, mandatory internships for relevant programmes, and revisions to the syllabi of selected courses to better align with contemporary educational and professional needs.
