Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti on Monday was unanimously appointed new chief of the Bugti tribes with immediate effect.According to details, the decision was taken after the death of Wadera Muhammad Sharif Bugti, who was holding the position. A tribal jirga was held in Beekar, the ancestral area of Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, where elders of the Bugti tribes unanimously named him as their new chief. The gathering followed traditional tribal customs and consultations.

Previously, the position of chief of the Bugti tribes was held by Wadera Muhammad Sharif Bugti, who was also the cousin of CM Sarfaraz Bugti.  The role of chief of the Bugti tribes belongs to the Masuri branch of the Bugti tribe. In the tribal structure, this position is considered the second most important after the Nawab of the Bugti tribe. A formal ceremony is being organized today in Beekar, where Mir Sarfraz Bugti will be formally given the traditional turban, symbolizing his appointment as Chief of the Bugti tribes.
