Court indicts PTI’s Azam Swati in controversial tweets caseتازترین

A court in Islamabad on Saturday not only rejected PTI stalwart Senator Azam Swati’s acquittal plea in the controversial tweets case against the state institutions, but also indicted him. Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka heard the case. Swati pleaded not guilty, saying he was innocent. The court summoned witnesses from the prosecution at the next hearing of the case.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing until October 14. A district and sessions court in the federal capital had on September 20 reserved its verdict on Senator Swati’s acquittal plea in the controversial tweets case. Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka conducted the hearing. The senator, a senior member of PTI, is facing two cases under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), related to controversial tweets he allegedly posted on social media.
