Election fever: Two-day holiday announced in Gilgit-Biltistanتازترین

Authorities in Gilgit-Baltistan on Thursday announced a two-day closure of government schools and colleges ahead of the region’s upcoming elections, as political campaigning enters its final and most intense phase.All government educational institutions across Baltistan will remain closed on Friday and Saturday to facilitate election-related activities and administrative arrangements

.Political parties have significantly increased their campaign efforts across the region, with candidates actively engaging voters and holding public meetings. In Skardu and other districts, election contenders are seeking support as polling day approaches.Senior leaders from the country’s major political parties have joined the campaign trail. Nawaz Sharif, president of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), is taking part in election activities. 

On the other hand, Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his sister Aseefa Bhutto Zardari are also campaigning in support of their party’s candidates. Meanwhile, former chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, Siraj-ul-Haq, is contesting the election, adding another prominent name to the political contest. The election campaign will conclude tomorrow night, with political parties making a final push to secure voter support in what is being closely watched as an important regional election.
