Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan's legal team on Saturday moved the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), requesting a halt to the trial in the May 9 GHQ attack case. The plea centers on stopping video-link proceedings until a pending decision from the Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi bench. The petition filed on behalf of Imran Khan argued that continuing the trial through video link would be inappropriate before the Lahore High Court’s ruling. His lawyers asked the ATC to grant more time to review the legal aspects of the case.
In response, the government’s counsel reminded the court that Khan’s lawyers had already submitted two petitions earlier challenging the video-link appearance. The state argued that the defense was attempting to delay proceedings. The Anti-Terrorism Court noted the submissions and summoned detailed arguments from both sides. The hearing is set to focus on whether the trial should be paused until higher court directions are issued.
