Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said that efforts are underway to ensure that no child in the province is deprived of their basic right to education. He made these remarks while chairing an important meeting on reforms in the education sector. The meeting reviewed the progress of ongoing reforms and discussed in detail the current reform initiatives being implemented across the province.
The Chief Minister directed the relevant authorities to release Rs 500 million for the establishment of an interdisciplinary research centre in the province. During the meeting, several proposals were discussed including the establishment of community schools in remote areas to rapidly increase literacy rates, expansion of the double shift school programme, and introduction of IT and AI courses. Sohail Afridi instructed officials to convene a detailed meeting on the proposed suggestions and finalize the future strategy at the earliest.
He also ordered the formation of a coordination committee comprising relevant officials and follow-up meetings to ensure implementation of agreed proposals. He said that special focus has been placed on education and health sectors over the past five to six months, adding that positive results are emerging from these initiatives. He noted that health and education are directly linked to the public, and the provincial government is investing in human development in line with Imran Khan’s vision.
The Chief Minister further said that the ultimate goal is to bring comprehensive transformation in the education sector and ensure that no child is left without access to basic education. He also expressed satisfaction over initiatives such as e-transfer policy, uniform curriculum, semester system, monitoring, teacher training, school-based assessment, virtual schooling and AI courses, and directed consideration of a broader framework to increase literacy, promote modern trends, and ensure equal access to education.
