Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif extended a heartfelt welcome to the Sikh community arriving in Pakistan from across the globe to participate in the celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary. In her message, the Chief Minister said, “I warmly welcome the Sikh community on this memorable occasion of Baba Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary. Pakistan’s borders are open for Sikhs, and we are delighted to host them in Punjab.”
She conveyed her best wishes to Sikhs worldwide, saying that Baba Guru Nanak’s teachings of humanity, love and compassion continue to inspire people of all faiths. Maryam Nawaz emphasized that peaceful societies are built on the foundations of tolerance, mutual respect, and brotherhood, principles that Baba Guru Nanak devoted his life to spreading. “Baba Guru Nanak taught us to share each other’s joys and sorrows, promoting harmony and unity among mankind,” she added.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed her government’s commitment to ensuring equal rights and facilities for all citizens of Punjab, regardless of their religion or background. “We must work together to make Pakistan a beacon of peace, harmony, and tolerance,” she stated. Recalling her visit to Kartarpur during last year’s Baisakhi festival, Maryam Nawaz described the event as a memorable and emotional experience.
She noted that extensive arrangements have been made for the Sikh pilgrims attending the birth anniversary celebrations this year. “Special attention has been given to the maintenance, renovation, and security of gurdwaras across Punjab,” she said, adding that the provincial government remains dedicated to providing the best possible facilities to the visiting Sikh devotees.
