A police checkpoint in Bajaur was partially damaged after militants attacked it late Monday night; however, no life was lost in the incident, reported. The checkpoint was attacked at 2:15 AM. District Police Officer (DPO) Waqas Rafiq said that the checkpoint had been vacated seven months ago due to which there was no loss of human life.
The DPO informed that the police had cordoned off the area and started investigations. It merits mention here that Bajaur has been witnessing unrest for the last several weeks as locals are opposed to any kind of military operation in the area aimed at kicking the militants out of the area.
Around a month ago, an assistant commissioner and a tehsildar were among five people martyred, while 17 others, including several police personnel, were injured when a roadside bomb explosion struck an official vehicle in Bajaur’s Sadiqabad area.DPO Waqas Rafique said it was an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion and said the bomb was planted on a motorcycle parked alongside the road.
