National Assembly (NA) Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said on Tuesday that Sheikh Waqas Akram of the PTI had been absent from the House for the last 40 days without bringing it to his notice. He said that the MNA had not even applied for leave. “I, being a speaker, am bound to bring this to the notice of this House.
Still, he does not show up, his seat will be declared vacant under article 64 of the constitution,” the speaker added. Earlier, PML-N MNA Nosheen Iftikhar moved a motion in the assembly, calling for ending the membership of Waqas. Nosheen said that the MNA had been absent for the last 40 days. “Therefore, his membership should be ended under Article 64.”
