Mobile internet data services have been suspended across Balochistan, including the provincial capital Quetta, due to rising security concerns, provincial authorities confirmed on Thursday. The suspension is expected to remain in effect until at least August 15, although no official end date has been announced.
According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), mobile internet services have been indefinitely shut down in several districts, including Kohlu, Chaman, Qila Abdullah, Pishin, Loralai, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Nushki, and Harnai. Authorities stated that the move was taken as a preventive measure in light of potential security threats.
However, the shutdown has caused significant disruption for citizens. Students are unable to attend online classes, and individuals engaged in freelancing and online businesses are facing severe difficulties due to the lack of connectivity.
