A number of proposals have been put forward for their incorporation in the national budget for the next financial year (FY), 2025-26. As per the document available with the 24News TV channel, a proposal has been made to allocate Rs3 billion for additional suits for the members of the parliament (MPs). The document informs that 500 servant quarters will also be built under the project. Furthermore, there is a proposal to earmark Rs4 billion for the Karachi Coastal Power Project and an equal amount of money for an IT Park in Karachi.
Likewise, a budget of over Rs4.90 billion has been proposed for building a Technology Park in Islamabad; a budget of Rs3 billion for the Islamabad Safe City Project; a budget of Rs2.59 billion for the Digital Economy Project NADRA, and a budget of Rs2 billion for the Islamabad development package. Similarly, there is a proposal to allocate Rs1.97 billion for the digital economy project and Rs500 million for the Prime Minister’s IT Startup Programme.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Health, too, has put forward suggestions for the allocation of hefty amounts for different projects. The ministry has suggested the allocation of Rs5 billion for the construction of the Jinnah Medical Complex in Islamabad; the allocation of Rs2 billion for the disease diagnosis project; Rs1.70 billion for building a Cancer Hospital in Islamabad and Rs900 million for buying equipment and machinery for the hospital.
Likewise, there is a proposal to set aside Rs900 million for building the Anti-Stroke Center at PIMS, Islamabad; Rs1 billion for the eradication of hepatitis project; Rs800 million for the Prime Minister’s National Anti-Disease Programme, and Rs500 million for the upgradation of a cardiac center at the Federal Government Hospital.
