Pakistan has temporarily closed its airspace along India for two days, following precautionary security measures linked to possible Indian military exercises near the border. According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the airspace between Lahore and Karachi Flight Information Regions (FIRs) connecting various air routes with India was closed for three hours on Tuesday morning. This closure will remain in effect from 6am to 9am during the two-day period -- Oct 28 and 29.
The measure affects air routes between Lahore and Karachi Flight Information Regions (FIRs) leading to Indian airspace. The CAA had issued precautionary instructions to all commercial flights on Monday, alerting them of the planned restrictions. Airlines were informed that airspace between Pakistan and India would remain closed for three hours each day during the two-day period. The airspace will be closed from 6am to 9am on October 29 also.
The Pakistan Airports Authority had circulated a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), notifying all local and international airlines and aviation companies of the restricted air operations on Monday. Officials stated that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure due to reports of potential Indian military exercises near the international border. The step aims to ensure flight safety and avoid any risk of escalation in the sensitive air corridor.
