A series of strict enforcement actions had been launched against vendors involved in the distribution of unsafe poultry meat in Multan, as food safety authorities intensify their crackdown on hazardous food practices. In a major raid at a poultry shop in Adda Matital, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) seized and destroyed approximately 12.5 maunds of contaminated chicken.

Officials stated that the meat was allegedly intended for distribution to multiple fast-food outlets across the city. The shop owner was arrested, and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Police Station Alpa. Food safety teams confiscated and disposed of the poultry on the spot to prevent it from entering the public food supply chain.

Director General of the PFA, Saeed Moosa Raza, warned that individuals involved in supplying unsafe or diseased poultry under the guise of fresh meat would face strict legal consequences. He added that such elements were “on borrowed time” as enforcement efforts continue to expand.

He emphasized that protecting public health remains the authority’s top priority, stressing that no compromise will be made on food safety standards. Authorities have also launched further investigations to trace the supply network and identify other outlets potentially linked to the distribution of the contaminated meat.
