Pakistan’s major reservoirs, the Tarbela and Mangla dams, have filled to 94% and 91% of their capacity, respectively, triggering flood alerts, as reported by the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Tuesday. Tarbela Dam's current level is 1544.00 feet (max: 1550 ft), while Mangla Dam's current level is 1203.25 feet (max: 1242 ft).
The PDMA spokesperson stated that the Indus River at Tarbela is experiencing a low-level flood, while the Chenab, Jhelum, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers are flowing at normal levels. Mountain streams and nullahs in Koh-e-Suleman and Dera Ghazi Khan Division are also currently dry.The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms and rain in the federal capital, Islamabad, today.
The skies will remain cloudy, and temperatures are expected to peak at 32°C, with 82% humidity. Winds will blow at 8 km/h, and residents have been urged to take precautions during rainfall and thunderstorms. In Lahore, the day will remain partly cloudy with rising humidity and heat, but rain is expected later in the evening or night.
The maximum temperature in Lahore is recorded as 34°C, and the minimum temperature is 28°C, while the winds are running at 8 kilometres per hour and the humidity is 85%. PDMA has forecast more rain until August 7 in the city. In Karachi city, drizzle is expected today under humid and overcast conditions.
