A court in Islamabad on Thursday sought initial arguments during the hearing of a Rs1b defamation suit filed by PTI leader Sheikh Waqas Akram against the ex-party leader Fawad Chaudhry for using derogatory language against him. The court directed the counsels for the plaintiff and the defendant to give arguments in the case at the next hearing on July 12.  

In his suit, Waqas said that Fawad used insulting language against him on social media, which harmed his reputation. “The plaintiff is an honourable citizen of the country and also an elected representative,” he said, and added, “But the content posted by Fawad on social media against me has tarnished my image in the eyes of the masses.”
