According to the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, wheat sowing drive has begun in the district to achieve the set target of the crop. Deputy Commissioner Safiullah Gondal inaugurated the campaign . Former MNA, Sardar Syed Muhammad Tahir Shah, Deputy Director Agriculture, Dr. Shahbaz and other officers were present on the occasion. The deputy commissioner said that a target of wheat cultivation had been set on an area of 215,000 acres in the district.

The farmers were being given interest-free loans, including agricultural machinery, by the government, he pointed out. The DC said that there was no shortage of seeds, fertilizers, and medicines in the district. He said that wheat crop was a major crop of the country's agriculture sector and directed the Agriculture Department to take practical steps to ensure achievement of the target.
