In a passionate call to revitalize football in Pakistan, senior journalist and analyst Mohsin Jamil Baig has said the country holds immense talent and is fully capable of launching its own professional Pakistan Football League (PFL) a bold initiative that could redefine Pakistan’s sporting landscape and place the nation on the global football map.
Baig shared these views during a meeting with a delegation of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Sports Journalists Association (RISJA), led by its President Abubakar Bin Tallat, in honor of the newly elected RISJA body. Senior sports journalists from prominent media outlets also attended the gathering.
He emphasized that Pakistan is rich in football talent, but to realize its full potential, there must be strategic mid- and long-term planning aimed at raising the standard of the game nationwide.“We are committed to working with the government to build a future where every child has the opportunity to chase their football dreams,” Baig stated.
“Pakistan has extraordinary potential in sports. With the right platforms, we can uncover hidden talent and draw more youth toward football.” Baig praised the crucial role of sports journalists in shaping public discourse and policy in the sports sector. He commended their consistent efforts in highlighting rising talent and holding authorities accountable for infrastructural shortcomings. “Football in Pakistan is full of promise, especially among our youth,” he noted.
“But without quality infrastructure, grassroots academies, and international exposure, we can’t expect progress. Media has the power to keep these issues alive and push stakeholders into action.” President Abubakar Bin Tallat, Patron Abdul Mohi Shah, and Chairman Shakeel Awan expressed gratitude to Mohsin Baig for his valuable support and unwavering commitment to the cause of youth sports development.
