KARACHI, Dec 10 (INP) Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM- London ) leaders Babar Ghauri and Shamim Siddiqui quit from the party’s primary membership on Sunday citing personal reasons, causing another serious blow to Altaf Hussain who is being deserted by senior leaders after his anti Pakistan slogans. In his statement from US, Ghauri told that he is neither joining any other political party nor has ever remained a part of MQM-Pakistan. He said that he was a member of MQM-London and is now tendering his resignation. After August 22, Babar Ghauri fell into a dispute with his party after raising the slogan of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ on social media. Moreover, he also apologized for violating party discipline later. Ghauri has said that he remained silent after August 22 incident and waited for the matters to cool down however; he met with continuous non-serious attitude from the MQM-London leadership. In response to a question whether he is resigning from MQM-London, he said: "there is only one MQM and that is in London". He added that he has never been a part of the MQM that is working out of Pakistan. However, he seemed sympathetic towards the creation of MQM-Pakistan, saying, "I understand why they did what they did". He said it will be good if the MQM-Pakistan and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP)'s merger succeeds as the Mohajir community is being neglected. Ghauri has been living in US for the past few years and is politically inactive. Ghauri has twice remained federal minister. He is also accused of illegal deployments in Karachi port trust during his tenure as the federal minister for ports and shipping. Another important leader of MQM-London and former federal minister Shamim Siddiqi also announced his disassociation with the party on Sunday. Siddiqi had been living in the United States for quite sometime. "My basic disagreement with MQM-London was Altaf Hussain's role during the August 22, 2016 incident when anti-Pakistan slogans were raised," he said while announcing his decision. INP/AH
