Pakistan’s flagship hydropower projects, including Dasu, Mohmand and Tarbela, recorded major disbursements totaling Rs13.8 billion during July–August 2025, as per the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ monthly report.
The August 2025 disbursement report available with Wealth Pakistan shows that the Dasu Transmission Lines Project received Rs4,088.73 million in the first two months. This project, listed in the energy sector category, is supported by the World Bank.
The Mohmand Dam Hydropower Project recorded multiple inflows from bilateral partners. The report lists Rs7,377.55 million from Kuwait, Rs1,623.10 million from the OPEC Fund, and Rs717.81 million from the Saudi Fund disbursed in July–August. The Tarbela 5th Extension Hydropower Project is also highlighted in the Ministry’s tables. Disbursements recorded under this project reflect continued financing from multilateral partners, including the World Bank.
Together, Dasu, Mohmand and Tarbela form a major portion of the $3,111.88 million in project aid recorded in the first two months of FY2025-26. These inflows illustrate the emphasis placed on renewable energy generation. By capturing these disbursements, the Ministry underscores the government’s strategy of prioritizing hydropower to strengthen energy security and reduce reliance on imported fuels.
