NADRA set to launch online biometric verification for taxpayers in September

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has developed an online biometric verification facility through its PakID mobile application for individual taxpayers, sole proprietors and overseas Pakistanis.

According to an official NADRA letter available with Wealth Pakistan, the facility is tentatively scheduled to become operational in the first week of September 2026, allowing eligible users to complete biometric verification remotely from anywhere in the world without visiting a physical centre.

The development comes in response to concerns over the annual biometric verification requirement for individual taxpayers and sole proprietors. The matter was taken up with NADRA by the Faisalabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry (FCSTSI).

NADRA said the dedicated PakID-based online biometric verification facility had already been developed and would also enable overseas Pakistanis to complete the process remotely.

The authority has also taken up the matter with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) through a formal contract to have PakID biometric verification formally recognised as an alternative mode of verification alongside the existing e-Sahulat service.

The facility is expected to ease compliance for individual taxpayers, sole proprietors and overseas Pakistanis by removing the need to visit a physical biometric verification centre.
