Activists and volunteers from Indian People in Solidarity with Palestine were assaulted by Hindutva groups while peacefully demonstrating in Karve Nagar, Pune, India. The group was distributing pamphlets urging support for Palestine and condemning the ongoing genocide in Gaza when a confrontation broke out.
Around 10–15 individuals initiated a verbal altercation that escalated when BJP leader Mahesh Pavle arrived with a mob of 50–100 people, who began attacking the activists.
The group reported that female participants were particularly targeted—facing threats of rape and death, with some having their clothes torn. Despite filing a complaint, police refused to acknowledge it and instead pressured them to withdraw. Four activists were detained, and the situation remains tense.
