10 MW provided to Gwadar Port, South Free ZoneBreaking

July 13, 2025

In a mega development, 10 MW has finally been made available for Gwadar Port and Gwadar South Free Zone, spreading over 60 acres of land from the national grid station. Significant advancement came into being after Quetta Electric Supply Company (QUESCO) initiated the project on May 8th by putting in place infrastructure, power cables and poles on the site.

QUESCO official told Gwadar Port that two independent feeders with each 5 megawatts have started providing electricity to Gwadar Port and Gwadar South Free Zone smoothly and seamlessly. The project serves as a catalyst for robust economic activities and the acceleration of industrialization in Gwadar Port, and Gwadar Free Zones.

QUESCO has already provided 10MW electricity in Gwadar North Free Zone last year, a shot in the arm for investors and companies desperately seeking power supply. Electricity tariff varies between Rs. 35 to Rs. 45 for industrial purpose as per normal and peak hours with uninterrupted supply. Earlier, Gwadar Port was using expensive electricity being produced by 8.5 MW diesel-powered generator, which had taken a heavy toll on the financial bill.
