June 24, 2026

A newly established paediatric ward designed to provide a child-friendly healing environment was inaugurated at GDA Pak-China Friendship Hospital, managed by the Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN).

The 14-bed ward was formally inaugurated by former Head of Campus Dr. Affan Faiq Zada in the presence of newly appointed Head of Campus Dr. Nasir Sheikh and other hospital officials, Gwadar Pro reported.

The ward has been specially designed to address the psychological and emotional needs of children. Its walls feature colourful cartoons and attractive illustrations aimed at reducing anxiety and fear among young patients during treatment.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Affan Faiq Zada described the facility as an important step toward improving paediatric healthcare services in Gwadar.

“Treatment of children is not limited to medicines alone. Mental comfort and a pleasant environment play a vital role in the recovery process. The design of this ward reflects that principle,” he said.

Hospital management said the new ward can accommodate 14 children at a time and will be supported by dedicated staff providing round-the-clock care.

The facility is expected to enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver specialized paediatric services in the region.

According to hospital officials, the paediatric emergency unit has capacity for five children, while the Nursery and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) can accommodate ten infants.

With the addition of the new ward, the hospital can now provide simultaneous treatment to up to 29 paediatric patients.
