China-Made Bus Service expands mobility with Shikarpur-Sukkur launchBreaking

April 18, 2026

The Sindh provincial government launched a new route for the People’s Bus Service between Shikarpur and Sukkur, marking a significant step in the expansion of its modern transport network.

The service, featuring Chinese-built buses, was inaugurated by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon as a “gift for the people” of the region, Gwadar Pro reported.

At the inauguration ceremony, Memon emphasized that the initiative reflects the strengthening Pakistan-China cooperation in the field of urban mobility and public services.

He highlighted that the fleet, which is manufactured using Chinese technology, offers safe, air-conditioned, and affordable transportation options for residents.

"This service belongs to the people, and it is their responsibility to protect it," Memon stated, urging citizens to ensure its proper usage and upkeep.

The newly launched route, spanning approximately 33 kilometers via Lakhi Ghulam Shah, is part of Sindh's broader efforts to modernize its transport infrastructure through international collaborations, particularly with China.

This service aims to address long-standing transportation challenges in the region by offering environmentally efficient and comfortable commuting alternatives.

In an effort to make the service more accessible, the Sindh government will subsidize 50 percent of the fare, benefiting low- and middle-income commuters while promoting sustainable urban mobility practices inspired by Chinese transport models.

Memon also highlighted that under the leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), headed by Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, there is a continued commitment to expanding such services across Sindh.

He further mentioned that the provincial government is implementing additional measures, such as subsidies for motorcyclists, financial assistance for farmers, and the distribution of free solar panels, alongside reforms in the transport sector.

The expansion of the People’s Bus Service is seen as part of a broader initiative to integrate Chinese transportation solutions into Pakistan's urban development, aiming to enhance connectivity and boost economic activity, particularly in secondary cities.
