Islamabad’s Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday dismissed the bail petitions of three Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) in a case linked to the November 26 protest. The petitions filed by MNAs Fazal Mehmood, Sajid Mohmand, and Asif Khan were dismissed by ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra due to non-pursuance, as the lawmakers’ counsels failed to appear during the hearing.
It is pertinent to mention here that the rejection of the bail of three MNAs was not on the basis of legal arguments or evidence but solely due to the absence of their lawyers. The three PTI lawmakers are nominated in a case registered at Kohsar police station, Islamabad, in connection with the November 26 protest. They had sought pre-arrest bail in the matter.
On July 24, 2025, 24NewsHD TV channel also reported that a trial court in Islamabad sentenced over 10 PTI workers to six months in prison each in three cases related to the same protest.More than 100 PTI workers were nominated in those cases, which had been filed under the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act.
Notably, Bushra Bibi, wife of former premier and PTI founder Imran Khan, along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, had also been nominated.Out of the three cases, two were registered at Ramna police station, while one was lodged at Tarnol police station. The court had also declared several suspects proclaimed offenders.
