A cabinet committee has approved draft legal amendments concerning the petroleum levy and climate support levy, along with proposals to increase fines and penalties for overloading. The meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Affairs was chaired by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar. It reviewed legal and administrative matters relating to overloading, petroleum levies and business regulations.

The cabinet committee has approved proposals to increase fines and penalties for overloading, along with its recommendations. Moreover, the cabinet committee has also approved proposed rules for the establishment and operation of the Asaan Karobar Technical Unit and the Pakistan Regulatory Registry. The approved draft legislation will be submitted to the relevant forums for more action.
