Five terrorists were killed during an exchange of fire with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) near the border area of Attock, according to a CTD spokesperson. The spokesperson said the CTD conducted an intelligence-based operation to apprehend suspected militants. During the operation, the terrorists opened fire on the CTD team, prompting a retaliatory response. In the ensuing gun battle, five terrorists affiliated with the banned militant group referred to as Fitna al-Khawarij were killed.
Officials stated that a suicide vest, two hand grenades, three submachine guns (SMGs), ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the militants. The process of identifying the deceased terrorists is currently underway. The spokesperson added that search operations are continuing in the border areas. Preliminary investigations suggest that the militants had finalized plans to carry out attacks in various parts of Punjab.
