Goods transporters cut fare by 15pcBreaking

June 20, 2026

The Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance (PGTA) has welcomed the government's decision to reduce petroleum prices and announced a 15 percent reduction in goods transport fares across the country. Speaking to media persons in Karachi, PGTA President Malik Shehzad Awan said the reduction in fuel prices had provided much-needed relief to the transport sector, which has been facing rising operational costs in recent months.

He expressed hope that petroleum products would become even cheaper in the coming weeks, further easing financial pressure on transporters and benefiting businesses and consumers alike. He also urged authorities to immediately withdraw the increase in withholding tax announced in the federal budget. He called for relief in toll taxes, e-challan penalties, and other levies affecting the transport industry.
