The Karakoram Highway has been closed at multiple locations due to heavy rainfall, landslides and mudflows, causing severe disruption to traffic and transport movement.The National Highway Authority (NHA) spokesperson confirmed that the highway has been completely shut for all types of traffic between Boshidas and Tatta Pani, leaving passengers and freight transporters facing significant difficulties.
The authority stated that heavy machinery has been deployed to the affected areas to clear debris and restore connectivity on the route as quickly as possible. Emergency operations are currently underway on a priority basis. The NHA spokesperson added that mudslides and accumulated debris are being removed on an urgent basis, but continued adverse weather conditions are hampering restoration efforts.
